So another Friday is here, and another lunar cycle begins today, as we have a new moon in Cancer. This is the first new moon since the solar eclipse we had in June, and so we’re taking the first careful steps in the new energy that the powerful eclipse portal has brought about. We’ll be working with that energy for the next six months, until the next eclipse season in November/December. For that reason, this particular new moon is especially powerful for setting intentions for what we want to bring about for this next cycle.
The Cancer energy is both compassion and nurturing, as well as being fearless and protective. Represented by the crab, the hard outer shells that envelopes it, serves as protection both for itself and those it loves. It also protects a soft inner core, that is highly sensitive and loving. The crab also carries its home on its back, symbolizing the need to feel safe and secure. It’s about feeling at home within yourself and protecting your inner being, who you truly are. This really goes hand in hand with today’s topic of sovereignty, as standing up for our own truth is really what that’s all about. Protecting our ability to be free and sovereign, and standing in our truth is also what this ascension process we’re in asks of us, and will be asking of us more and more going forward, I believe.
As we’re in the height of summer here in the Northern hemisphere, this new moon invites us to slow down, and focus on self-care and nurturing, as well as exploring what our personal truth is, so that we can begin to protect that truth and finding a secure space within it. When our truth and what we stand for is challenged, and the need for control (from outside sources) are imposed on our need for freedom, it becomes more and more important to figure out your own boundaries, what you’re willing to accept and what you’re not. Each and every one of us need to figure out that for ourselves, as what is one person’s boundaries and truth may be quite different from another’s. Sovereignty is about standing in your own power, and not be swayed by the masses or those around you that may be well intentioned, but may feel threatened by your sovereignty, especially if they haven’t found their own personal power and truth.
This scenario is playing itself out at the moment, especially in the “jab” scenario, where a division between those who choose to get it and those who don’t seem to be at odds with each other. It doesn’t have to be this way, however, as in my opinion, the real question is about making a decision that you feel is best for you and your loved ones, regardless of what others may think or feel. It’s a personal choice and when we can make that choice from a place of empowerment and sovereignty, and respect that your neighbor may choose something different, that is an exercise in sovereignty and love. Coercion, manipulation and arguments may well ensue, but then it becomes even more important to stay within the power of that love and sovereignty.
It is my belief that we will all be faced with more and more opportunities to exercise sovereignty in the months and years ahead, as it’s an important part of awakening and ascension to a new love based reality (which we’re all a part of, whether we’re aware of it, or not). However, standing in your power and being sovereign, is not always easy, by a long shot. And the more we’re challenged, the harder it becomes. Fear of all kinds will be triggered in that process. The fear of not being accepted, of being ridiculed and laughed at, and of even graver things coming to pass as a result of our choice to stand firm in our convictions. You may lose people you love in that process, so grief may also come as a result. Some may even lose their jobs or other things that are important to them, as this world is not so used to and not always so friendly towards those who choose to go against the grain. Yet, as long as nobody gets hurt (which may again be a controversial subject), everyone should be respected and encouraged to become a sovereign being.
As we navigate this transition into a new and better world (as that is what I believe is coming), it’s more important than ever to come from a place of love and acceptance. As long as all we do is grounded in love, and a real sense of wanting to do what’s right, both for ourselves and our fellow human beings, we are on the right track. I think that’s an important reminder, as the world that we live in right now is pushing our buttons and challenging us like never before. But perhaps that is a necessary step on the path to becoming a sovereign being. We’re in for a bumpy ride, though, regardless of what happens, so be gentle with yourself and deal with it as best you can.
With that said, I feel that with this Cancer new moon, it’s a good time to nurture ourselves, and go inwards to dig a little deeper for our truths. Figure out your own boundaries, and perhaps slowly begin to practice them, even if it’s just in small ways. This is what I myself feel called to do right now, as the mood is somewhat lighter and easier to navigate at the moment. But I’m sure tensions will rise again, and when they do, I want to be prepared, to stand in my own sovereignty, with all the love I can muster. I hope you feel inspired to do the same! ❤️
With that, I wish you a beautiful day, and send you, as always, so much love & light!
